Competition can be murder...
The second Marie-Laure mystery takes place in the heated competitive atmosphere of a slalom race and an international ice hockey tournament.
I'm often inspired by the stylish graphics of posters from the 1930s and here is a speedy (and woefully underdressed) skier from 1934. The artist, who signed himself 'Kama' , was Karl Machatschek, who was a ski instructor as well as an artist.
Ice hockey was one of the sports at the 1924 Winter Olympics in Chamonix and here's a pic of a women's team at those games. I don't know which team, but they look like they mean business.
